See how great a love

2 Timothy 3:16, 17

V. 16 All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness ;

V. 17 so that the man of God may be adequateequipped for every good work.

·     The Word says ALL Scripture is inspired and profitable.

Verse 17 goes hand in hand with 1 Timothy 2:15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamedaccurately handling the word of truth.

Interesting that the original Greek word for accurately & handling  are the same and it means to cut straight, to cut straight ways,  to proceed on straight paths, hold a straight course, equiv. to doing right to make straight and smooth, to handle aright, to teach the truth directly and correctly.

God gives us this power to present His Word but it must be according to His guidance and leadership, not our will but His Will be done!

Look at the Son of God’s confession in John 5:19- Therefore Jesus answered and was saying to them, "Trulytruly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himselfunless  it is something He sees the Father doing ; forwhatever  the Father doesthese things the Son also does in like manner.

And  John 5:30-"can do nothing  on My own initiative.  As I hear, I judge ; and My judgment is just, because I do not seek My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.

Where are we to be? I’m so glad you asked. Jesus stated in John chapter 15 that He is the true vine and we are the branches and apart from Him, we can do nothing! These Scriptures really take on new power and meaning when we correlate them with Jesus’s prayer in John 17, especially verse 21- that they may all be one ; even as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me.

1 John 3:1-3 see how great a love the Father has bestowed on us…

New research shows the importance of the real estate industry in Texas

Recent data from the Real Estate Center at Texas A&M University shows that real estate is the state's second-largest industry after manufacturing. The new data comes from an ongoing REC research program that monitors the relative importance of the industry and its resulting wealth for the state.

According to Ali Anari, Ph.D., a research economist with the REC, the Texas real estate industry accounted for 8.4% of the state's gross domestic product (GDP) in 2011. The data also reveals that the largest proportion of self-employed Texans are in the real estate industry.

Other data shows the total real estate wealth in 2011 for various properties, including:

  • $945.1 billion for single-family residential wealth
  • $85.1 billion for multifamily residential wealth
  • Almost $279 billion for commercial wealth

"Values" Voter information

Here are some very good sites I received from Point of View election resources...

Or just go to pointofview.net/vote2012 to see information on the candidates and be sure you are well informed before you vote.

If you are unsure where you polling place is, you can find that information through the voter guide as well.  You will also find many other resources to help you be an informed voter.

Selling your home during the holidays

So how should you best market your home during the holidays? Take the same careful consideration as with any other time of year, but add a bit of holiday flair for warmth. Just don't go overboard a la Clark Griswold and the holiday lights in National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation.

The fact is that homes look and feel warm and inviting when they are decorated for the holidays, and that's very appealing to buyers. You want buyers to picture their own family in the festive environment you've created. If it's cold and you have an open house scheduled, it can't hurt to have a fire going in the fireplace, hot cider at the door and even candy canes for potential buyers.

Most importantly, consider your selling price carefully and be realistic. When setting the asking price, ask your Texas REALTOR® to compare similar homes sold in the winter months/during the holidays. Many owners set their asking price too high because of comparisons with sales prices during peak seasons. Always try to compare similar properties sold at the same time of year.

Call me today at 817-276-5149 or email me at steve@steveyoung.pro for more information or to see what your home or property is worth in TODAY'S market!

Price it RIGHT... Or you'll get a lower price later

In my 23+ years of real estate I've observed one key thing; folks thinking of selling their home really don't like to hear this statement. Most feel, when they hear "price it right" they are being asked to sell at a reduced price and the realtor just wants a quick sale. In reality it is a TIMELY sale both the seller and realtor should want. In a market where we have an over abundance of pre-owned & new construction homes for sale, pricing becomes even more critical and as a rule, the longer your home remains on the market...the less you will get. Overpricing, especially in a market that is saturated with homes for sale, is a big, big mistake. An agent that knows and keeps current with the market and what is going on in that particular neighborhood and surrounding area will know how to price your home to get it sold expediently while still realizing for you the highest and best sales price.

*In conclusion most showings for any home will take place during its first 2-4 weeks on the market - when it’s an exciting, new listing! So it’s critical that the asking price be razor sharp to the actual value right from the start of your home being put on the market!!

Was the other guys fault

Ever since the current administration took over all we hear is re the mess they inherited.
Reminds me of my first paper route I took over from a kid that had almost lost half the accounts on the route. One day after several days of hearing nothing but complaints from some of the previous paperboy's customers, I came home to complain about the mess I'd inherited. Well, my Mom basically said...get over it like now and get out there and show them why they should take the paper from you. It really does not matter what happened previous, can't do anything about that. What matters is what you do with it NOW!

Can you see now why I don't like whiners and finger pointers?

Hey, current administration...get over it...woops...too late

Resounding music

Psalm 27:6 with Psalm. 19:14-meditation-resounding music, where?...in our hearts! Also "joy in His tabernacle" goes with 1 Cor 6:19,20 and 1 Cor 3:16

We can reverse Psalm 27:6 by stating...because I sing and WILL sing praises to the Lord, because I do and WILL offer sacrifices of joy in His tabernacle or, per 1 Cor 6:19, in my body, my head is and WILL be lifted up in honor above my enemies all around me.

Lest we forget who our enemy is, according to Ephesians 6 we do not war against flesh and blood but against principalities and powers in the heavenly (spiritual) sphere and 2 Cor 10:3,4. God's not confused as to who the enemy is as Jesus pointed out in John 10:10 so let's not be either. A good read regarding this-Hosea 4:6.

P.S. You can click on any of the links to be taken to the Scripture or message mentioned.

Character Matters...

Dear Steve,

From time to time, I would like to share with you a column that says something very important. This is true of the attached column by Thomas Sowell. He has been a guest on Point of View in the past, and does a good job of reminding us that character matters.

Phony in Chief Column
Read Thomas Sowell's Column

Some of our presidents in the past have had trouble telling the truth (Richard Nixon and Bill Clinton come to mind). In fact, during the scandals that plagued the Clinton Administration, many in the media began to claim that what happens in a person’s private life doesn’t matter, all that matters is how well they do their job. As Christians we know that character does matter because the decisions an individual makes, even those affecting their job performance, flow out of that character.

That’s why I wanted to share this column by Thomas Sowell. No doubt you have seen online or on some of the news sources video of then Senator Barack Obama addressing a group of people in Louisiana about the government’s handling of the Katrina crisis.

Many would say what he said doesn’t matter because it was so long ago. Thomas Sowell does a great job of explaining why that isn’t true as he sets in context the comments made by then Senator Obama.

I hope you will read the column and that the information you find will be beneficial.

Kerby's Point of View - What You Cannot Do

What You Cannot Do
by Kerby Anderson

Commentary ThumbnailDuring this campaign we are hearing about what Congress can and cannot do. Perhaps you have seen the list created years ago of the ten “you cannots.” If you have not seen them, here they are:

1. You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift. 2. You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong. 3. You cannot help the poor man by destroying the rich. 4. You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred. 5. You cannot build character and courage by taking away man’s initiative and independence. 6. You cannot help small men by tearing down big men. 7. You cannot lift the wage earner by pulling down the wage payer. 8. You cannot keep out of trouble by spending more than your income. 9. You cannot establish security on borrowed money. 10. You cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they will not do for themselves.

Over the years they have been incorrectly attributed to Abraham Lincoln. Actually they were written in 1916 by the Reverend William Boetcker, a Presbyterian clergyman and pamphlet writer. The confusion stemmed from a pamphlet published in 1942 entitled “Lincoln on Limitations.” The pamphlet had a Lincoln quote on one side and these statements by the pastor on the other side. Although the pastor was given credit on the pamphlet, many reading the pamphlet wrongly assumed that all of the statements were by Lincoln.

Sometimes people confuse it with a statement by the late Adrian Rogers. “You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. . . . You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.”

There is wisdom in both of these pastors’ sayings. We live in a world today that really believes we can help one part of society by harming another part of society. We need to listen to these wise pastors before we enact more legislation that attempts to help some by harming others. I’m Kerby Anderson, and that’s my point of view.

A privilege and an opportunity...

Ted_cruz_tarsept2012
I consider it a privilege getting to meet Ted Cruz, Republican candidate in 2012 for U.S. Senator from Texas at the Texas Realtors State convention in San Antonio last month. I was very impressed with his speech to our group. His challenger...Paul Sadler...not so much. But as some might say, just my opinion!
Also enjoyed listening to him and Rick Santorum at the GOP Convention. I'm glad the elections are almost here, please get out and vote.

Our Country is at a major crossroads, more dangerous than I imagine any of us really realize.

And please do not be like so many that feel it's a waste of time to vote or that what does my vote matter, both the candidates are no good. Sadly I hear that a lot and even worse, I heard it in Church one day, the statement that this is all we've got to vote for? In a few words that person was making a very bold statement that it just didn't matter. I disagree and I see in God's Word where He does not agree with that either. We've been given a great privilege and opportunity in this great Country of ours, the right to vote and make a stand for what we believe in. So do it or don't complain when it does not turn out like you like it.

Interesting info regarding "Green" & the FTC

Labeling products or services as eco-friendly or green just got a little more serious. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) recently finalized its Green Guides, a resource created for marketers to help them avoid making false environmental claims about their products or services.

The modified guidelines warn against making broad claims that a product is environmentally friendly. According to an FTC consumer-perception study, terms such asgreen or eco-friendly suggest to consumers that a product has specific environmental benefits. These claims are hard to substantiate and sometimes impossible.

The guidelines also apply to products in homes, such as windows or flooring, as well as certifications and seals of approval. Companies that violate the guidelines are now facing potential fines and lawsuits from the FTC.

Candy Cooke, a Green designee and instructor for the National Association of REALTORS®, says that it’s important to be familiar with what terms like green and eco-friendly mean. She cautions against advertising a property as green unless it has met standards set by certifying bodies or programs. Instead, explain to potential buyers what green additions are in the home and their benefits. "Say, 'We've upgraded the insulation,' or 'we've changed out the windows,' or 'we've tried to use products that wouldn't cause any hazardous odors.' I avoid using green; I call it quality," Cooke says.

Burleson TX 1881

Celebrating the 20th annual Burleson founders day on Saturday, October 13th, 2012.

The city was actually founded on October 10th,1881and incorporated in 1912 and so celebrating the cities Centennial of it's incorporation this year as well.

My Uncle & Aunt moved here from Fort Worth in 1962 and I actually learned safety, handling and shooting of firearms not far from their home since it was nothing but rural country areas around them. I also learned to drive a stick shift in a 1941 Willys Jeep. He had a newer one but felt I couldn't tear the old one up. Never tore it up but did cause a few of the kids to get bounced out when I went over bumps or bar ditches too fast. Hey, gotta hold on better Dudes!

Back then there were only a couple of fast food places and family restaurants. Fats forward to current and the city looks like a who's who of eating spots making me wonder if anyone eats at home anymore?

It has been good to see the city spend time and money in promoting the "Old Town" area, bringing in new places and my favorite, small family owned restaurants. So come on down this Saturday and we can like, hang out!

Fish for Life and other things...

I want to thank all that participated from signing up for the fishing tournament to all those that donated monies, bought fish for life bracelets and donated items for the raffle to make the 3rd annual Fish for Life event so successful! The last I heard they were pretty close to $10,000 to go to Cook Hospital in Fort Worth. Yea to all!

My Mom always said you are blessed by the friends you have and I'm blessed way more than I can even attempt to write here. Through Cara's illness to even after she passed away folks have continued to support me, first and foremost of all through their love & prayers and also their support when I ask for help to give back to Cook, Children's Miracle Network and cystic fibrosis, groups that have given so much to me and Cara's family.

I want to make a special thank you to Steve and Debbie Amburn. Through their desire to give back to those who have given so much to us they started the Fish for Life event. Not just a tournament but an annual event that is now taking on a full year of giving, assistance and donations! Cara would be proud. Even when she would be sick in the hospital she had care and concern for others that were ill and especially the ones who's families did not have much in the way of support, family or monetary wise.

Kerby's Point of View - Redistribution

Very good article that goes hand in hand with the UN agenda and some of what they are meeting about now and their plan to implement new "global tax's". The agenda: finding new and "innovative" ways to create global taxes that would transfer hundreds of billions, and even trillions,of dollars from the rich nations of the world—especially the U.S.—to poorer ones,in line with U.N.-directed economic, social and environmental development.

Redistribution
by Kerby Anderson

Often during a political campaign or congressional debate, there has been talk of redistributing the wealth. Fortunately, economist Thomas Sowell has written an insightful piece on “The Fallacy of Redistribution” that should be required reading.

The problem, he says, is that the people “who talk glibly about redistribution often act as if people are just inert objects that can be placed here and there, like pieces on a chess board, to carry out some grand design.” But people make choices based upon the effect certain government policies will have on them.

When the Soviet Union confiscated the wealth of successful farmers, food became scarce and millions of people died of starvation under Stalin. When farmers realized the government was going to take a big part of their harvest, they slaughtered and ate young farm animals they would normally kept tending and feeding.

The problem for those who want to redistribute wealth is that they can only confiscate the wealth that exists. They cannot confiscate future wealth. And future wealth is less likely to be produced if people know it is going to be confiscated.

Usually the most valuable asset is the skills and knowledge of the people who produce wealth. Economists call this “human capital.” When the productive people leave the country, the government cannot exploit their knowledge or confiscate what they would have produced. Fidel Castro could confiscate the wealth many Cubans left behind, but he could no longer exploit the human capital that fled to Florida.

Thomas Sowell also points out that it is even harder for confiscatory policies to work in a democracy. “A dictatorship can swoop down and grab whatever it wants. But a democracy must first have public discussions and debates.” A productive person or industry can see what might be coming and take appropriate steps.

Redistribution of wealth may sound compassionate. But the evidence of history as well as common sense explains why redistribution doesn’t spread wealth. It spread poverty. I’m Kerby Anderson, and that’s my point of view.

Freedom of speech

Who or what gives us freedom of speech?
Well the 1st amendment of our Constitution, among other rights, gives us our freedom of speech in this great Country we live in which I firmly believe was given to the founding Fathers from the Creator God. So God ultimately gives us our rights and freedoms, we have just been blessed to live in a Country that was founded on that belief too!

I have written about how we lose our freedoms several times as have many others. How we lose them through indifference, carelessness and sometimes just plain laziness.

As I've been following the UN General Assembly goings on once again I'm reminded of not only freedoms we've already lost in this United States of America but the freedoms the UN and others want to take away even more!
So how does freedom of speech enter into this little chat here? As my Brother in the Lord Ray Andrews says...I'm so glad you asked.

The freedoms given by governments, world entities or men can be taken away. We see this happening right before our eyes. Freedom of speech just so happens to be one of them I've chosen to discuss. You see, in Hebrews 10:35 the Word of God states that we are not to throw away our confidence because it has a great reward.

The freedoms from the Government, man or the world system can be taken away, even our Constitution replaced by the "World Court" so to speak, although I pray we will not lose it. But the freedoms God has given by can not be taken away by any man or entity and neither does God go back on what He has given. See Romans 11:29, for the gifts and callings of God are irrevocable. No, once we have received them from God we are the only ones that can lose them, again through indifference, carelessness and or turning our back on God. We can lose our freedoms, here talking about speech through what Luke 21:35 discusses, through dissipation, drunkenness and the cares and worries of life.
