Character Matters...

Dear Steve,

From time to time, I would like to share with you a column that says something very important. This is true of the attached column by Thomas Sowell. He has been a guest on Point of View in the past, and does a good job of reminding us that character matters.

Phony in Chief Column
Read Thomas Sowell's Column

Some of our presidents in the past have had trouble telling the truth (Richard Nixon and Bill Clinton come to mind). In fact, during the scandals that plagued the Clinton Administration, many in the media began to claim that what happens in a person’s private life doesn’t matter, all that matters is how well they do their job. As Christians we know that character does matter because the decisions an individual makes, even those affecting their job performance, flow out of that character.

That’s why I wanted to share this column by Thomas Sowell. No doubt you have seen online or on some of the news sources video of then Senator Barack Obama addressing a group of people in Louisiana about the government’s handling of the Katrina crisis.

Many would say what he said doesn’t matter because it was so long ago. Thomas Sowell does a great job of explaining why that isn’t true as he sets in context the comments made by then Senator Obama.

I hope you will read the column and that the information you find will be beneficial.
