We can stick our head in the sand through indifference, not wanting to believe or just flat stating that it happens no matter who is running but all that will get you is stupidity.
I believe the Scripture in 2 Thessalonians 2:10 fits very well here... and with all the deception of wickedness for those who perish, because * they did not receive the love of the truth so as to be saved.
I've found that first and foremost of all people treat the Word of God the same way. Oh they will claim to believe until it upsets their theology or their pocket book!!
